Why Bulgaria?

We value your time, therefore we offer you 5,000 years in a single trip. Bulgaria – older than the oldest.SM

Why Bulgaria?

  • The oldest civilization in Europe and one of the oldest in the world, older than Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. There are thousands of prehistoric, Thracian and medieval treasures exhibited in many Bulgarian museums that have witnessed the history of this land. Only in Bulgaria you can see "the world's oldest gold" (4,800-4,200 BC) from the treasure found in the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis.
  • A unique location at the crossroads of different civilizations, cultures and epochs. On less than 43,000 sq miles there are 43 reserves - cultural monuments and over 40,000 archeological monuments, original villages with authentic houses - some of them over 300 years old - and more than 120 Orthodox Monasteries, the largest among which is the Rila Monastery which is in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. See which the other Bulgarian UNESCO sites are.
  • The Rose country – in the Rose Valley and in the Valley of the Thracian Kings there are thousands of hectares of the oil-producing rose of the sort ‘Rose Damascena’. Bulgaria produces the best quality rose oil in the world. This marvelous ingredient is more expensive than gold and is used in most famous perfumes. Every year in the first weekend of June when the ‘Festival of the Rose’ takes place in the town of Kazanlak you could take part in the process of rose-picking and distillation.
  • Delicious cuisine - Bulgarian cuisine is tasty and healthy. It is a combination of the best traditions of the East and the West. The fruits and vegetables are grown in the fertile Bulgarian land; the milk and the meat are from domestic animals bred in the lush grazing grounds of the Balkan. Bulgaria is also the home of the yogurt – world famous natural and healthy food.
  • Ancient wine tradition. As far back as 5,000 years ago the Thracians produced wine – the divine drink that gave them strength and inspiration. Today a variety of Bulgarian wines could be tasted in numerous wineries around the country. Bulgarian wines are exported abroad – in Europe, USA and Asia and have won prizes at international competitions.
  • Small area with wide variety of landscapes and ecosystems. The area of Bulgaria is one-forth of California but offers a similar diversity of landscape, flora and fauna. In just one day of traveling you can cross the majestic sceneries of Stara Planina, Rila, Pirin and Rodopi mountains, through the Rose Valley, to the Black Sea. In Bulgaria there are thousands of caves - 12 of them are electrified and accessible to the public. There are alpine lakes, waterfalls, medicinal mineral springs that offer excellent conditions for spa and wellness tourism. Many flora and fauna species are preserved in natural and national parks – 2 of them are in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List - Pirin National Park and the Srebarna Nature Reserve.
  • Unique folklore – a combination of authentic music, songs, fascinating dances, hand made colorful national costumes - these customs and traditions are specific for each one of the regions of the country. The beauty of the authentic Bulgarian singing lies in the specific two-voice songs and the phenomenon of irregular beats. The world has judged this musical treasure on its merits therefore the Rhodopi song ‘Izlel je Delyo Haydutin’ performed from Valya Balkanska was included in Voyager Golden Record as a musical message from the Earth to unknown civilizations and has been traveling in the space since 1977. The programs of our agency will give you the chance to get to know, hear and live the unique and fascinating Bulgarian folklore performed by the best and world-famous Bulgarian choirs.

The archeological discoveries in Bulgaria take place all the time! Visiting this country is like entering a movie set, having a role assigned and taking part as an actor! We are offering a piece of action for you!
